I WROTE THIS BOOK FOR MY CHILDREN, grandchildren, and descendants. My objective is to inform them they are not just human beings, They are spiritual beings living temporarily in a human body. And their spiritual being will live forever. My hope is that they will read it when they are mature, and investigate the facts for themselves. And perhaps others will stumble across it.
This is the tale of one spirit who has spent 86 years knocking about inside the same human body—mine. My journey into the world of Spiritual Life began in my twenties with a rather dramatic “signal” from the universe: an electrocution that nearly sent me upstairs far earlier than planned. Nothing wakes up your inner seeker quite like being temporarily toasted.

That shocking episode launched me on a spiritual quest that carried me far from my Dublin beginnings to London, Nigeria, Colombia, Argentina, and finally the USA. In London, fate (and the Irish dance hall scene) arranged for me to meet the lovely Maureen Browne, a nurse with a smile strong enough to stop any Irishman mid-jig. We married in short order and went on to produce two excellent children who have forgiven us for dragging them across continents—well, most of them.

My practical career was in Electrical Engineering, which sounds very down-to-earth until you realize it’s basically training for understanding invisible forces—ideal preparation for spiritual exploration. That job opened doors to foreign countries, and off we went, family in tow, except for my solo stint in Colombia (long story, best saved for chapter seventeen).

Along the way, I stumbled upon the profound teachings of the Hindu Rishis—the ancient sages of India who meditated so deeply they practically melted into the universe. In a dusty used bookstore in Buenos Aires, I discovered English translations of their luminous works: The Upanishads and The Bhagavad Gita. I bought them for a few pesos and gained a priceless education over the years.

This book shares the essence of what I’ve learned and offers simple, friendly guidance on how to meditate—without requiring electrocution, passports, or a trip to Argentina’s second-hand bookshops.
